Thanks again@Ableton for letting me have some more time with this wonderful device! Having spent more than a few days with it has been incredible! Coming from a guitar background and really not being a keyboard player, this instrument has felt like the first to properly translate for me into the digital realm! The unrivaled expression on the pads is still the biggest selling point for me. I sti...

Thanks @Ableton for letting my use this wonderful device again! This is the only MPE controller on the market I have used which doesn't feel like a dry slip n slide on my fingers!

VFX Technaught Breakdown and Why I learned to love the Unreal Engine
Where did you find the aluminium foil?
Sorry it's been so long ago I can't remember.
Great project - the mic sounds really good!
Can I ask a question.
I believe you already did but, you don’t need my permission to ask another
I have been thinking about it a lot lately, I feel like Atari could have had a better shot at survival if they had of maybe tried to get into the pro audio world for home studio's. Considering the ST was all over the place back in the day in music mag's and studio's pro and home. So it was always baffling to me why they never tried to at least give the pro audio world a small shot. I feel like the format the cases alone was made in could have been tweaked for the studio a bit more. Maybe even link up with Roland or something but yeah could have been a beastly music computer over all but sadly this is where we landed.
How much to mod mine?
Just bought one.. witch os software are you using i have NW1 Wavetable Editor V1.09. Is there any hacked version or thirdpary software? I would like a black faceplate as well :) thanks for the vid!
I believe that is the latest version. I know of no hacked or third party version. Good luck on the alternative plate. Glad you enjoyed!
Just updated the NW1 firmware to 1.07. I bought it with 1.03. Every thing just works fine with MacBookpro m2 Sonoma and the 1.9 editor and usb. I found out you can use Audacity and import raw data file (.wtrs) there you can modify and export to wav format, i really like this module. Also the bass next to my analog modular is insane!
Not a preampt. Will not clean up your signal. DI boxes , used for guitars until that SM 7 POS started selling after 45 years for some reason , used to only sell 180 units per year for two decades, They were on eBay in 2009 for $30-40 bucks still. I despise what that thing has done . Back to the cloud lifter, There's no way for it to clean up a signal if you're just boosting it, which is exactly what that thing does. The power comes from the preamps, so all the does is amplify. Technically, it adds a noise. Minimum of 1.5 decibels of self-noise out of the 24 available.
Are you happy with such a noisy mic?
Ouch, well I’m happy learned a lot in this processed and have an extra mic in my locker. The disclaimer in the description does also say the noise is much better after I put some shielding around the transformer.
@@SubbParProductions You might try to shield the entire mic altogether to reach commercial ribbon mic noise level. A wood microphone is never a good idea.
@@rafremafeteiI agree, still surprisingly the metal screen on both sides is tied to ground which helps, as well as shielding the transformer now makes a world of difference. I have plenty in my mic locker and this was a great learning experience.
K on the Falcon looked better than Atari Karts on the Jaguar.
the chaos cache doesn't seem to trigger the notify for breaks, collisions or trailing, so how to I get any smoke or dust?
No clue sorry I can’t help you out on this one. The setup I used was in UE5 Preview 2. Try reaching out to the Unreal Team and also on the forums and user groups on social medias. Best of luck
cool
Normally XBoot really should not be causing any problem, specially if you have a "empty" config without anything running. Most problems come from having too many things setup, some conflicting with each other or requiring specific order. What I recommend is to have Xboot, check that everything boots just fine without adding anything else, then add things one by one and write down what you did so you can figure out what made it fail. Normally XBoot runs first after the HD driver, so you should always be able to fix the issue. A typical use case would be to have different setups for the different programs, with custom desktop files with the proper resolution set and open on the proper location on the disk. Regarding monitors, there's a significant difference between the Falcon VGA and RGB modes, and quite a few applications will only run on one or the other, so having adaptors for both video formats is a good idea.
Sounds like it will work for mobiles also
😊Man use a better desktop wich are faster
I use a Dell MPF82E Floppy Drive Module which you can get a USB cable for and they work great in Windows 10. Can also read 720K disks which you can swap between Atari ST computers. Very useful indeed!
The aspect ration of this video was Subb Par
Never heard of aspect rations before. Must be a feature that hungry producers want
@@SubbParProductions Ofter the nuclear fall we relearned how to speak, better than the before before times.
@@SubbParProductions Kidding aside, have you tried the Five12 Vector sequencer? It can do a lot of what you want. Scenes, song mode, etc.
I haven’t played with it in person although I have looked into it. I currently use x2 vermona qmi2 modules for 8 voices + cv modulations from the computer but, if I’m feeling in a stand-alone mood I will go with my Nerdseq paired with my Beatstep pro. Still the interface for entering notes and sequences can feel a bit sterile at times compared to what I experienced with Push 3. I have the expander module for nerdseq to use my launchpad mk3 for entering notes/sequences. Maybe I can bug XOR to have an unofficial push 3 support feature for launching/chaining clips and entering new patterns.
Why they didn't chose ARM?
These are the questions that keep me awake at night
@@SubbParProductions i checked - ableton isnt ported to ARM, even on mac its running with rosseta / emulation.
@@randomdudefpv4927 still better than Avid haha

I want to know if the ADAT sync clock is master only or if it can follow. Also in my dreams the adat will work with the analog I/O but I don’t it.
Sorry I was only able to test so many thing in the brief window I was able to borrow it in the making of this video
@@SubbParProductions no dude. Thanks for the video. I can confirm that analogue and adat does work simultaneously
From other peeps in can confirm it’s master only
You definitely provided insight and asked questions that other content creators ignored. I want to use the device as an MPE instrument in controller mode with the Push 3 as my audio interface - in your opinion, are the audio interface functions (inputs, outputs, noise levels, latency, mic preamps, and usability) of sufficient quality to serve as the main audio interface in a high quality home studio?
Everything I heard sounded great. If I had more time with it, I would love to do a shootout with other preamps I have. Latency felt fantastic but, just like on other machines, it depends on your buffer size which I personally never had to raise
@@SubbParProductionsSuper helpful - thanks so much!
future hopes 1. usb qwerty keyboard support for file naming 2. usb memory stick file import 3. USB cable connection support for file (samples) import from phone/tablet/pc/mac 4. sd card slot 5. external ssd drive support 6. separate/dedicated Cv/gate ports (8) 7. ships with ableton standard pre installed 8. bigger screen 9. touch screen 10. user angle of screen 11. XLR with phantom powered 48v for condenser mics (like roland Verselab)
first three, 5th, is deff only matter of firmware
Add a mouse and monitor….wait it’s a normal computer now?
@@SubbParProductions not seen anyone film file naming cos its so 90's games console like and takes AGES! - unless you call your file aaa
@@SubbParProductions haha true, usb-c could do that
lol unhinged rant
Can you turn the MPE on and off?
Yes, see 2.2.2 Expression Tab in the Push Manual www.ableton.com/en/push/manual/?pk_vid=ef3ecbf19c910c3f16855715159db7cf
Is the user experience completely the same as on standalone? I'd like to use it while not having to look at my computer screen, but I'm not sure if you need to use the computer screen on the controller version. Great vid btw!
Yep the same on controller and standalone mode. Fairly seamless switch between the two. Just like controller mode on Push 2
Background music had me anticipating for something epic.
If you sat through this entire thing, that is epic
For ergonomics the knobs should have been on the bottom imo i think id be using those more than the pads. The display could have been angled or an hdmi out. The mpe is cool but they probably spent a ton on that which couldve been used in other areas
I agree. I feel like I have to reach over so far to turn the knobs but I still love it though
Great video🎉
Having an onboard gpu is impressive but I’m sure the cost of additional graphics to power external hdmi and internal displays would be a bit more. I personally love push because it takes me away from a monitor and forces me to use my ears. This can really enable me to cook up different sounds/songs. That said as someone who personally has never cared about mpe, I now believe it in. The powder coating on these pads feels organic for sliding where Roli and a lot of other companies always feel like a slip n slide with no water. The instrument presets also are all designed for mpe so thing work right away.
Each time I'm using push 2 I think about the knobs being too far back.
Is it possible to save a cached destruction as an actual Geometry Cache to use in a Blueprint?
I’ve never tried before sorry idk
I think Best Electronics has the best supply of almost all the ATARI stuff for all their systems .
is it possible to bake these parts into a static mesh after destruction?
This was so interesting!
You can press Escape to skip the memory check.
Hmm, I also have it selected but when I create it it doesn't have my GC auto selected and I dont have it automatically in the ouliner either. And if I fix it manually the "record" in cache mode isnt there. Only play and static. Any solution to this is helpful
Hmm I haven’t had this issue before. I suggest asking the UE team on their official forms. Best of luck to you solving this
How can I vote this best short tutorial at the Tutorial Awards! thank you 💪🏿💪🏿
Is this better for performance if I want to use destruction in a game?
I believe so. Useing a cached simulation means that it will not have to recompute all the math when its triggered since the work is already done. This way you can cache many simulations greatly improving performance. What took 10 minutes preparing ahead of time can then take 20 seconds in game for example.
Yo this video goes above and beyond. I feel like the veil has been lifted and I can finally see clearly. Bless you ❤
En Español ..por Favor...
Lo siento, no hablo much Espanol. ¿Quizás convertir los subtítulos automáticos de UA-cam ayudará?
Great piece music you did - I love it! Can I find you somewhere on spotify etc.?
With the geistnote transformer, did you try flipping the transformer 180 degrees?
I tried a bunch of different combinations after the initial wiring didn’t work well
TOS!!!! The OS is called TOS!!!
Thanks for the info
TOS stands for The Operating System. Imaginative, eh. 😊
if you want to use it in the sequence and keyframe it as you like you must switch the Cache mode to (Static Pose) not (Play)
Thank you omg
I got almost every piece of hardware lying around somewhere .. even a c-lab mk-X It's really astonishing how these machines work !
Is it possible to replay it in sequencer, like scrubbing through the playback, so I can animate around it? Perhaps using the take recorder but as far as I can tell the take recorder doesn't work with this? It would be next level if you could help take this that little bit further!
Not that I know of. It still seems to take a few seconds before it catches up and kicks in to start sequence depending on how large of a cache file it is. If you had a baked alembic sequence, maybe then you could then scrub on the timeline. You can always try contacting the support team, if you learn how to do this please let me know!
yes you can! follow the video and at the end you should put the Cache mode to (Static Pose) and drag the cache manager to the sequence after that click on Track and select Start Time then keyframe it as you like
@@akaseven112 Yes, but for anyone else, in order to have it actually render out - you must create a new blueprint of the class, ChaosCachePlayer, set it up the exact same as the manager and place it in the sequencer. That is the one to keyframe otherwise it will not work correctly when you actually press play or render :)
@@rossgribben3001 no why I have to create extra blueprint class to render it out !!!! When you create the cache maneger for an object and apply it in the sequence it will work fine when rendering I did that many times!!! or you are talking about something else ?
is there anyway to trace the locations of the pieces and when they hit and bounce on different place on the ground it'll trigger same metasounds but with different mass/damping/size/location value?
Amazing, thank you
Felicitaciones! Es todo un éxito!
This seems to be broken in 5.0.1 :(
hmm It is still working for me in 5.0.1 What part is not working for you?
@@SubbParProductions Actually after watching your video again I found my problem! My geometry collections wasn't automatically appearing in the Observed Components array. Once I did that it works! thanks for your help, I wouldn't have found the answer if I didn't rewatch your video.
Hey there. Interesting work. You finally confirmed for me if raw synthesis was possible in UE5. This seems pretty damn full featured. I tried looking for your contact info or socials but couldn't find any. What's the best way to get in touch with you ?

This did help someone, MEEEEE. THANK YOU!
Great tutorial. Is their any differences with Chaos in terms of stability/performance between ue5 early access and preview 2?
I’m not sure, they’re both technically beta still so I wouldn’t use them for anything production yet, or at least save backups
I was about to give up after 2 days of looking a pre-baking simulations from Blender or Houdini and it seemed they disable the Chaos Caching while they 'refactor it'. This works so thank you so much.
You are welcome! You can always test to see if cache is working or not by adding another object to the scene to see if the simulation interacts with it. If it doesn't then it's cached ect..
